'Tis the season to be baking

Falalala...lala..la...la...! I know, it's irritating when every industry jumpstarts our holiday expectations earlier and earlier every year. I don't think much of it myself. So instead, we're going to chat about procrastination....in a minute!

We have had a bang up two weeks of fun events to cater. What a joy to go to work doing what we love and being able to work with someone you admire and adore! ( at least I feel this way ) Our future looks as bright as the tinsel we are starting to see on the store shelves and we hope to be as busy as Santa's elves as the holidays draw closer.

Back to the matter at hand, procrastination! I love social media, I love all the wonderful ways we can communicate, plan, reach out, shop...the list goes on. I also am guilty of allowing all these wonderful advancements to steal my time and my attention from the really great guy I am married to, and my good intentions to accomplish wonderful things on a daily basis. For fear of being sued, I won't specifically mention names, but I think we all know our major culprits! One place I love to dwell is in what I call "the board of good intentions". I have saved thousands of ideas, recipes, cakes and cocktails in meticulously designed packets of dreams. I have cleverly named my categories and believe it or not, I have quite successfully completed many said ideas. My fondant pigs have graced a wonderful birthday cake for my cousin that is still talked about two years later. There is nothing wrong with the whole concept except it makes for a cesspool of procrastination and a bad case of the "somedays". Someday I will make this pistachio chipotle and chocolate mousse shaped like a chihuahua - someday I will wear this all natural and color coordinated outfit with matching earrings and footwear - someday I will make this Christmas tree out of felted pinecones and berries - someday I will serve my family a delicious gluten-free and paleo inspired supper - someday...

What about today? What about turning a few of your somedays into today? Maybe it won't be picture perfect. Maybe even the dog won't volunteer to taste test what you try. Maybe you will neglect to shake the branches really well before making that craft project (trust me...don't forget this step!) but maybe, you will try instead of dream. Maybe you will sit down with your kids a create some great memories. Maybe your husband will say "Gee, Honey, this is a really great dish, we should have it again." You can only save so many things on your hard drive. Its time to start lifting our heads from our screens and living out the dreams and ideas we save. I am grateful for new ideas. Our business relies on unique ideas and well practiced favorites.

Yes, the holidays are headed our way. Let's take some of those great ideas and create new traditions to savor. If you feel like being more crafty than culinary, then let us help out by giving us a call to help you with those parties and gatherings. We will help you entertain your guests, from 20 to 200 with a delicious meal or even just a few baked goods if you have a spectacular meal already "Tacked" ...errrrr whatever!
