Today has been a day of waiting. Sure, we all have had plenty to do to fill in the gaps, but most of our day in this family has been spent waiting. Delana's first grandchild is on its way and we can't wait to meet this precious little one! The proud parents have now spent an entire day at the hospital, babies are hard work, and our little guy or girl isn't as seemingly excited to meet us as we are to meet him/her. I believe my nephew and his beautiful bride are one of the few couples in this day and age who want the surprise to wait until the end. Perfectly fine, in my opinion, although this great auntie can't wait to go shopping! But back to waiting......
Lana and I have waited a long time to achieve this dream of ours. (BTW, our family endows nicknames as a form of affection, so plan on knowing I am Nene and Delana is Lana) We firmly believe in God's timing and listening to His agenda even though plowing ahead has often been our strong suit and more often than not, our downfall. Still, we waited through marriages, children, heartache, changes, and growth until a strong whisper through our hearts said, "Now, Beloveds, I will bless you with the desires of your hearts." We have entertained separately and together for years, always with the thought of how fun it is, how great we are at it, how delicious our favorite recipes are, how magnificent our talents in decorating.......how HUMBLE we are in extolling our talents....ok, maybe I have gone too far! The point is, we are at a joyful time in our lives (some of our kids say mid-life crisis time) but we know that as we have spent the last few months planning and executing this dream of our own catering business every detail has fallen into place beautifully. We continually give thanks and ask for guidance in this and continue to be blessed as we wait for our official start date. We are blessed, we do our work with a cheerful heart, and we wait for October 1, 2015. As I close this tonight, we are still waiting for Baby Gorman, and that's fine because fearfully and wonderfully made blessings are worth the wait! |
